Lute Lifestyle Brands is a very interesting brand founded in 2015. The brand was founded by fellow jiu-jitsu and mma enthusiasts so they provide the kind of service they’d always wanted to be provided.
The gi was sent to me to use during my training during a recent visit to Singapore’s Evolve MMA.
From the very first training session in it I felt impressed by the design and the comfort it provided. I rolled in it on a bunch of occasions hoping to provide the best possible review.
The Royal Plush model is a nod the one of the greatest rock bands of the 90s, Stone Temple Pilots.
Specs:
The Gi is a 450 gsm Light Weight Pearl Weave. It is a great option if you’re looking at a weight cutting process and you need a gi that will be of quality but light at the same time. Although it’s very light it still feels quite solid!
The collar is basic EVA foam in ripstop material. It’s of good thickness and round shape.
It features some rather nice Sublimated Art Work on Cooling Mesh Material in Heat Areas!
In addition to all of this it also has soft cotton ripstop in pear weave gusset! The pants tie together through the 6 point red loop with stretchable red drawstrings. It also features a great tailored fit along with reinforced stitching on stress points.
It comes in a very nice Stone Temple Pilots inspired Gi bag that has plenty of room!
We’ve reviewed the A2 Gi as I’m 1m85 and 82 kilos, and it fit me just fine out of the box.
I washed the gi at 30 degrees everyday for the 3 week period and it shrunk just a little by becoming tighter. The sleeves stayed the same which is important for passing IBJJF regulations.
Material and durability:
The Gi top features a 450 gsm (gram per square meter) pearl weave top which makes it light weight comfortable and durable at the same time. The jacked is reinforced at all stress points, shoulders and back, armpits, sidewents everything is reinforced with stitches.
Look:
The gi feels very plush, true to its name. The jacket is solid and made to last under all the shoving and tugging. The pants are quite comfortable. This gi is a perfect lightweight solution that you can use both in the summer and in the hot weather as well.
In Conclusion:
Royal Plush Gi retails for 140$ and it’s more than worth it. It’s an attention grabber with the rich royal blue color, good details and impressive quality. This gi will surely remain in my constant rotation in the years to come!
